Micropiles are small diameter(typically 6-8 inches) drilled and grouted piles using central high capacity steel and, in most cases, permanent casing. Despite their small size, micropiles can be used to provide high capacity compression, tension and lateral support for structures. They are ideal for low clearance conditions that preclude drilled shafts, such as in seismic retro-fitting of existing structures. Our personnel have installed micropiles for a variety of applications, including jacking and raising existing structures, seismic retrofits of buildings, tanks and other structures, foundation support in limited access areas, and use of micropiles to create permanent shoring walls.

Our capabilities include:

  • Design/build micropile foundation systems.
  • Installation in low clearance environments, with overhead heights of less than 10 feet.
  • Installation in existing structures sensitive to exhaust, noise and debris.
  • Installation in soil, rock, and sands/gravels to depths in excess of 200 feet.
  • Micropile installation in marine environments, including installation off of barges and trestles.
  • Hollow core micropile systems.
  • Under-reaming systems to allow advancement of casing through boulders and bedrock.
  • Micropile installation in remote areas.
