Objective
The Reser Stadium expansion project was an ambitious endeavor for Oregon State University, aiming to enhance stadium capacity, access and overall community engagement. With a budget of $30 million, the project presented several geotechnical challenges that required specialized expertise. Pacific Foundation rose to the occasion, delivering a range of solutions to ensure the stadium’s structural integrity and safety.
Our responsibilities encompassed drilling conventional and Continuous Flight Auger (CFA) shafts, with some in low-clearance areas using a Bauer BG12H. The construction of a soldier pile wall with tiebacks ensured the retention of soil and enabled further excavation work. Furthermore, the design and installation of micropiles were vital to underpinning the existing stadium structure, ensuring the safe integration of new and old sections.
Amidst the rigorous construction work, our drilling crew encountered an unexpected challenge – the remains of a Wooly Mammoth. The discovery generated widespread interest, and Pacific Foundation handled the situation with respect and care.
The completed expansion of Reser Stadium has become a significant landmark for OSU.
