This 8-story mixed-use structure houses 138 residential units, 83 below-grade parking spaces, and 5,924 square-feet of commercial and retail space. Pacific’s scope included 48” diameter deep cement mixed columns (CDSM) to depths in excess of 50 feet in heavy clays and silts using our Bauer BG24 drill rig, as well as a 30-foot high soldier pile wall with 8” diameter tiebacks installed in the unpredictable tanner creek fills. Based on our performance on this project, we were selected by the owner to design the shoring at the Art Tower building, which included a 55 foot deep shoring system with up to 6 rows of tieback anchors and 36” diameter CFA shafts embedded into Troutdale, as well as a pressed sheetpile test using our Bauer RTG21 fitted with Bauer press.
